Racecourse celebrates 1st Birthday

The Racecourse is celebrating its first year as a family friendly restaurant. With a carvery offering, large indoor and outdoor play areas and an over 50s discount club and conference rooms the Racecourse has proved a great success in its first year. To celebrate its Birthday between 20th and 24th July the Racecourse will be offering free ice cream for children with every child’s main course purchased.

There has recently been a new management team appointed at the Racecourse. Shelly Lovick joins The Racecourse as General Manager. Shelly has worked for Richardson’s for 10 years. “It’s an exciting time and I am looking forward to the opportunity of working with the team to develop the services and standards of the Racecourse during the months ahead.” Ian Whittaker joins as Head Chef working previously at the Hilton Hotel in Norwich. This new management team will be able to ensure the smooth running of the Racecourse which can cater for 300 covers at any one time. Food and service have to be top quality to retain and attract business and with this new team we can make sure this is what is delivered. New menus will also be launched in July.

Since its re launch The Racecourse has been well received by local families, offering quality food and a great place for children to play. Children’s parties have also been very successful. Although families dominate the custom at The Racecourse, the size of the venue means it can cater for all party types; friends, intimate meals and corporate lunches. The venue also has 2 conference rooms available for hire. The car park is more than ample so people also need not worry as to whether they will be able to park. To try and attract more clientele The Racecourse has an over 50s club giving discounts off carvery meals as well as a diner’s loyalty card. People should be aware that despite having the play areas The racecourse is a great venue for a quiet lunch or evening meal.

Richardson’s also owns the Hog in Armour on St Benedict’s, The Blueberry Music House on Cowgate and the Garden House in Fakenham. Changes have had to be made to these venues too as there can be no doubt the credit crunch and prices of alcohol in Supermarkets is hitting the pub industry very hard. The Blueberry is a well-known live music pub and entry to see some fantastic groups is free.

Greg Munford, Group General Manager of Richardson’s comments: “Running a pub or restaurant is only going to become more of a struggle over the next year. People’s expectations have increased drastically over the past few years and they will be now be looking for special offers. Consumers are in the driving seat now more than ever and the pub and restaurant industry is going to have to become even more intuitive and diversify”.
